Life began in the water, in the warm seas perhaps. Then these photo- and chemosynthetic life forms of simple organisms and algae conquered life on earth. Then the advent of us, the animals, in the consequent trophic chain was possible; who in turn, paradoxically, learned to herbalize and relocate the vegetal. Given its great plasticity, the plant was also one of the few kingdoms that has successfully avoided the great mass extinctions, thus contributing to the preservation of an incalculable source of bioinformation. 

Native, exotic or domestic, marine or terrestrial, are just some of the capricious human classifications for a logic of the vegetal that knows no borders and whose essence is fundamentally rhizomatic and polysemic in forms and meanings. 

Algas caidas proposes an amphibious herborization encounter at the Enrique Larreta Museum of Spanish Art, taking as its conceptual axis the acclimatizing and marvelous nature of its garden of Moorish origin in dialogue with the works of the French artist Kalie Granier, who lives alternately between California and Paris. The artist’s migratory situation allows her to be in contact with bull algae or Nereocystis luetkeanabrown in color that are found in ocean waters, which reach a size of almost 50 meters in length. Through the transmutation of matter that Kalie’s artistic practice fosters, the sculptural installation of seaweed that is displayed in the museum establishes a dialogue with the Arabic-style garden in the heart of the City of Buenos Aires, which It allows us to reflect on the migratory and adaptive power of the plant, not only in a biological key, but also in terms of the generation of new aesthetic and dynamic senses that are capable of making us perceive and design a better possible world.
